Fascial Manipulation Sydney
Fascia is the connective tissue that binds the muscles, joints, bones, ligaments, nerves, organs and pretty much the whole body together.
Restrictions or injuries to the fascial network can cause dysfunction and pain within the body. These dysfunctions can cause chronic pain.
Fascia contains within it a material called ground substance which responds to movement and pressure. When you get into bad postures at work when sitting or standing the body can lock into these positions. The fascia will bind up and can "stick" itself to other areas in the body. It needs the lubricating hyaluronic acid to keep sliding and gliding throughout the body.
In a session the practitioner will assess your movement and restrictions. Treatment will then focus on releasing the deep layers of fascia that can unwind the body and release patterns of holding that can alleviate chronic injuries which can even be the reason you are always getting recurring acute pain.
Fascial Manipulation was developed by Luigi Stecco, an Italian physiotherapist to identify and treat certain "key" points in the fascia to restore proper movement in the tissue. By restoring the glide between the deep fascia and surrounding structures and "unlocking the cage" that is our body, we can restore proper glide between the tissues and allow you to get back to the activities you love whilst moving without pain.
